The Big Pour

Well, the footer got poured today.  I was a bit apprehensive that the crew wouldn't finish it today and that would have been a problem.  Cecilio De Graca who is the contractor/builder assured me that the footer would, indeed, be completed today.  And so it was.  Dusk was rapidly setting in, but the objective was achieved.

Here you can see two cement mixers being fed by the crew.  The wheel barrows were in motion from 7:00 AM until almost 7 this evening.

Cecilio pauses fro a photo op.  He is standing where edge of the patio joins back with the house.

Here is a view looking at the footer for the edge of the patio.  The steel in front will be the skeleton for the left column which will be one of the supports for the patio roof.  You ca nsee the freshly poured concrete behind the steel.

Here one of the crew pours concrete into the footer of the left edge of the patio.  Cecilio assists.

Cecilio assists Pacifico in pouring more concrete into the patio footer.  Now everything stops until the end of the month to allow the footer to cure and harden.  Cecilio will be by to sprinkle water on the concrete so it doesn't dry too quickly.  The ground here would rapidly remove the moisture from the concrete causing it to dry too rapidly and crack.
