The first glass blocks go in
The trip to Panama City was almost completely successful. Seems that the metal prehung doors doors I had hoped to use for the front door and carport door would not be mine to have. The door heights on the house are 80 inches which is standard for the United States. The door heights on all prehung doors we encountered was 82 to 84 inches. This makes things problematic when the tie beam is already poured. Dino and I ran all over Panama City trying to find the elusive 80 inch door. We finally found one and only one in Panama Viejo at El Coloso. It is a 36 x 80 inch wooden door with beveled glass and brass trim and the damn thing is heavy. It will look pretty nice once it's installed. So the caveat is If you want prehung metal doors in Panama, you should consider making your exterior door measurements 36 x 84 inches.

The great 80 inch front door will be flanked by two columns of glass block. The reinforcement steel for the driveway can be seen in the foreground.

Violet holds one of the pendant lamps we brought with us. The framing will hold four of these lamps over the island. As a point of information, we found numerous pendant lamps in the lighting stores here in Panama. There is a good selection in Lumicentro in David and other stores in Panama City.

Violet and Serina check out the repelloed area where the jacuzzi tub will go.

The pizza hut???? has it's roof.

Serina exits stage right as I snap a a shot looking to the southwest.
