We took a ride to Puerto Armuellas on a nice Sunday afternoon. The beach scenery was beautiful and we saw parts of Armuellas that hinted of it's flourishing past when Chiquita Banana was the most popular girl around.

This is the air strip at Armuelles. It's still in pretty good shape.

This is the Kiosko Chiquita right next to Chiquita Stadium. The blue building the background is of a typical architecture used in Armuelles.

The last engine, number 727, of a bygone era. There is a crane car attached to the engine.

Self powered rail cars wait in the shed.

One of several remaining Cariocas used to handle the lies of the Freighters that used to dock at the pier.

727 and the crane car wait in stoic silence.

The surf and sky of the Burica peninsula.

A small estuary on the way.

The dryness of summer contrasts with the cooling blues of the Gulf of Chiriqui.

Looking back toward the tank farm. The stern of one tanker can be seen off the point of land.

The pier where lots of bananas used to be loaded.

Off the pier to the south as the peninsula curves away.

A wave breaks on the north side of the pier.

Vi and Sombra wait by the Galloper because it's time to head home.
