First Road Trip With The Ford

We took a road trip yesterday, August 8 to a town called La Arena. For those of you familiar with Panama, La Arena is just north of Chitre which is a growing city on the Azuero peninsula. Distance from the house is about 180 miles. La Arena is famous for terra cotta pottery and other artistry. Violet wanted to get a painted terra cotta owl for one of her gardens which seem to be growing faster than weeds.
For those of you that don't know, one of the results of the overland trip with the F 250 through Central America resulted in a cracked windshield. It was most probably a result of all the topes, speed bumps, or policia muerto. Mexico is loaded with them. It took 28 days to get the truck out of Aduana ( customs) and a certified check posted as surety. The usual rigmarole then got the truck street ready in about a week. I was able to get the windshield replaced with one from Costa Rica. It is laminated and appears to be working very well. A quick check on the mileage revealed fuel consumption with some local driving at just shy of 19 miles per gallon. Not too bad at all. A special thanks to Bill Hewitt of powerstrokehelp.com Now for some photos.
Here we are in La Arena. The truck was a pleasure to drive.
Violet looks at art work for sale.
A shopkeeper wraps up a terra cotta owl for the trip back to Nuevo Bambito.
Violet offers Sombra a drink. Sombra loves to ride in the truck.
